Video evaluation

After researching videos for the band I have ideas for the video I want to make.

The live performance videos shows lots of energy and excitement. I want to use this in my video and create a realistic looking live performance in front of an audience. I want the editing to be fast paced with lots of close-ups of the band members as well as the audience. I want to use stage lights if possible.

For the narrative element of the video I want to use the same performers who are acting as the band. Green Day tend to appear in most of their videos as actors as well as performers and I want to continue this theme.

I will have the band playing practical jokes on the parent figures in the video. I'm not going to make the video sinister but quite childish. Possible practical jokes are, whoopee cushions, jumping out in a scary mask, fake spiders and fireworks.

Videos

The song 'Brat' was never released as a single and a such a video was not made for it. There are some live performances of the song which I will use to get inspiration for the performance part of the video. I have also included links other videos produced for singles from the same album.

Starting Out

This week I started research for my music video production coursework.

I am going to make a video for the Green Day song 'Brat'

The song is about a brat of a child who is too lazy to make his own way in the world and relies on others instead.

The video will feature a performance and also a narrative.

The Look

Still photos for promotion and pictures from live performances show similar dress running through both. Most of the band usually wear a tie or a suit and most have tattoos. Most of their instruments look well played and old rather than brand new. The band show lots of facial expressions in both kinds of shots.

This information will help me plan the look of the video to follow the bands previous work.
